New Philadelphia, Illinois was the first town founded by an African American and ex-slave, Frank McWorter in 1836. It was an integrated community that became a key stop on the Underground Railroad.

The Workforce Services Division of Will County Mobile Workforce Center will be in the Route 59 parking lot from 9:30 AM to Noon and 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM to provide support for people looking for a job.
