The Ulster Historical Foundation will present an extensive list of lectures over this two-day workshop.
- Understanding Irish Townlands: the importance of place, identity and administrative divisions in Irish research
- An introduction to Archives in Ireland and their Websites (for example, the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, the National Archives of Ireland and the National Library of Ireland
- Records Related to the Different Churches in Ireland
- Using land records: Griffith’s Valuation, Tithe and Estate records
- Irish Education and School Records: a Valuable alternative to Non-Available Census records for Nineteenth-Century Research
- Newspapers as a source for Irish research
- Emigration from the north of Ireland to North America – sources for researching emigrant ancestors
- The Irish Poor Law and local government records: Board of Guardians, workhouse registers and grand jury records, etc
- Law and Order Records in Ireland
During the second day of the workshop, the Ulster Historical Foundation will host one-on-one consultations by appointment. Fees for these consultations will be collected online directly through the Ulster Foundation website.
