Before becoming a National Tallgrass Prairie, Midewin moved into the home of the former Joliet Army Ammunition Plant. Learn about the Ammunition Plant which was active from 1940-1996 and how it became the land for native Illinois prairie birds, bees, and butterflies that we know today.
