Less well known is the history and meaning behind the graffiti art form. Opened in 2020, STRAAT’s 150-plus works are housed in a former ship shed on the NDSM shipbuilding wharf. The artworks were created in and especially for the museum by over 130 artists, including some of the biggest international names as well as up-and-coming talent. Most of these impressive visual experiences are as large as the murals in the wild.
David Roos, curator and creative director of STRAAT, will discuss the museum’s founding and collection, the stories behind the works, and the history of street art. He firmly believes that learning more about the graffiti art form will encourage you to take a fresh look at your surroundings.
